The soft plastics are baled and transported to APR Plastics in Victoria where they will be processed. At the facility, the soft plastics are shredded so that they can be consistently fed into the process. The shredded plastics are then fed into Biofabrik’s WASTX plastic machine. A uniquely designed corkscrew conveyor transports the plastic material into the reactor and breaks it down at high temperatures. The
plastic is then converted into feedstock oil, which will be sent to Viva Energy’s Geelong refinery for further processing. There it will be turned into resin, which enables it to be turned back into recyclable food-grade plastic packaging.

rFlex® is made from predominantly soft plastic packaging, sourced from a mix of post-consumer and pre-consumer soft plastics. Packaging films, pouches, bags, shrink wrap and even bubble wrap can be used to make rFlex®.
